George Bush Marker Dedication

  • Boone County Courthouse 705 East Walnut Street Columbia, MO, 65201 United States (map)

On Thursday, September 7 at 4:00, the Community Remembrance Project of Boone County, in cooperation with the Sharp End Heritage Committee and the Boone County Commission, will unveil and dedicate a new marker to commemorate the lynching of Mr. George Bush. The event will take place on the Courthouse grounds and will become a part of the African American Heritage Trail in Columbia, Missouri.

Mr. Bush was lynched from a courthouse window on September 7, 1889.

The marker will be provided by the Equal Justice Initiative, with whom the CRP of Boone County is affiliated. This marker will join many others across the nation as a part of EJI's Community Remembrance Project.
Please plan to join us on September 7 at 4:00 on the
